The artist
Caitlin McCavana is a UK based, autistic artist/ Illustrator with ADHD. They create moss creatures expressing themselves in various beautiful scenes. (they are also non-binary).
who are the mcmoss characters?
Caitlin created the mcmoss characters to tell a story of their neurodivergent experiences. This is why the mcmoss characters are stimming (self stimulatory behaviour) in many of Caitlin's works. The mcmoss characters reveal the underlying roots and meanings behind their work.
But why moss?
The simple answer is, Caitlin loves moss.
But also, Moss has many cultural ties to symbolisms of comfort and home which is how Caitlin hopes the mcmoss characters can make others feel.
